QFC – Now accepting competitor’s catalinas!

Went to QFC tonight to pick up a few things and I was excited to hear that they are NOW taking competitor’s catalinas! I wasn’t too surprised considering Fred Meyer, also a Kroger store, has also started accepting catalinas with competitor’s logos on them.
I was able to use my $1.25 Safeway catalinas from the California pizza deal at QFC tonight. Two different cashier agreed that this is the new policy, that it is a recent change and that they received a memo about it. I will try and track down the details (and a written coupon policy) from the manager – but as far as I know:
  • You CAN use competitor’s catalinas – they must say “Manufacturer coupon” on them
  • If the catalina is for MORE than your purchase, the cashier will give you change!
Until I get something in writing from QFC – please don’t insist they oblige, you can always call ahead and ask about the policy (I’d ask to speak with a manager). But until we get the official new coupon policy, this is something to ask about but don’t expect it just yet. :)
So just to re-cap from recent posts, you CAN now use catalinas with competitor’s logos on them at Fred Meyer, QFC and Walmart!
A catalina is a coupon that prints at the register on receipt-like paper. Generally something in your order will trigger the coupon to print. For example, have you ever bought Huggies before and a coupon for Pampers prints out? That’s intentional marketing. :) Or my favorite kinds of catalinas are for a certain amount off your next purchase – for example, $1.25 off your next purchase, when you purchase any California pizza! These can be spent like cash on your next order!
These catalinas have the Albertsons logo on them, but in fine print along the top they say “Manufacturer cpn” which mean you should be able to use them at QFC
